
Prior to the release of their second full-length album Champ, Tokyo Police Club came to the Last.fm Discover studio in NYC and shared this new material with us. The album, produced by Rob Schnapf, shows us a band that has matured greatly from the early days when they started messing about for fun in keyboardist Graham Wright’s basement.

Born and bred in Wales, Marina Lambrini Diamandis (A.K.A. Marina & the Diamonds ) who in spite of existing for little over a hear, has gained much acclaim & attention overseas reaching number two on the BBC Sound of 2010 poll list. Shes released a handful of singles, an Ep last fall and just let loose her debut full-length studio album “The Family Jewels” late this spring which features new songs for the die-hard fans as well as some archived material for the un-acquainted. With it’s etherial and dreamy-pop sound, School Of Seven Bells unleash their sophomore album Disconnect From Desire. Benjamin Curtis along with identical twins Alejandra and Claudia Deheza came by the Last.fm Discover studio initially for Street Date to conicide with the release of this album. We knew as soon as we booked We Are Scientists in for an Energizer session, there would be no rules. The performance doesn’t stray from the norm. But once Keith Murray and Chris Cain sat down for the chat, it turned into the Keith & Chris show! Never knowing what they’d say or talk about, is exactly what we wanted.
The guys ran through 4 songs for us, including “Nice Guys,” “Rules Don’t Stop,” “Pittsburgh” from the new album Barbara and “After Hours” from it’s predecessor Brain Thrust Master.

Bred in Athens Georgia, Of Montreal just hit their 13th anniversary as a cult-indie-pop phenomenon. Combining musical experimentation with catchy melodies and sing-along choruses, the band’s style has been influenced by vaudeville and music hall on their earlier releases and by afrobeat, funk, and reggae on their recent releases including the soon-to-come False Priest.
