Blasting out from New Brunswick, NJ in 2007, The Gaslight Anthem are back with their third album “American Slang.” Lead singer and guitarist Brian Fallon spent some time at the Last.fm Discover studio for a stunning acoustic performance and interview.

It’s all about that “important” third album. I mentioned how I felt “American Slang” was to The Gaslight Anthem, as “War” was to U2, how “Born To Run” was to Bruce Springsteen or how “London Calling” was to The Clash.  And Brian Fallon couldn’t agree more. He made reference to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers breakthrough 1979 classic “Damn The Torpedoes.” After the release of The ’59 Sound, he already tipped the rest of the band off that they needed to make “that kind of an album. You know what's next guys, right? We gotta come up with Damn The Torpedoes.

Fallon went on to say how English Blues music was his inspiration and influence when making “American Slang.” He praised Peter Green and his work with Fleetwood Mac, and without a doubt, 100%, Derek & The Dominoes was his musical bible for vocals.

Check out the intensity of Brian’s performance below of three songs from the album including “American Slang,” “Boxer,” and “The Diamond Church Street Choir.”

Beware…..Brian, Benny and the two Alex’s will be out pretty much all of the summer promoting and jamming this stellar Ted Hutt produced album in as many ears as possible.
